WE'RE GREEN!

airfresh2

Our servers are part of an intelligent grid system, which makes us fairly efficient with our infrastructure and power usage. Still, internet operations need electricity, and a majority of that power is generated from coal-burning power plants. Our service provider, in partnership with Native Energy, is countering our environmental impact by offsetting the power we use from fossil fuels with renewable energy credits. Our goals are to make our hosting operation completely carbon neutral and to invest in projects that bring more clean energy into the power grid. You can read more about how this program works on Native Energy's website.
A SOLID FOUNDATION
When we set out to find a place to house our systems we knew there was only one answer, Rackspace. Rackspace data centers are known as being the best in the business. They are an industry leader that currently manages over 30,000 servers for customers all over the world. They own and operate their own facilities and have redundancy in all critical systems (like power systems, HVAC systems, etc.) They're built for exceptional uptime and are all SAS-70 compliant.

A MODERN NETWORK
Connections to the data centers are handled by the Rackspace Network. To provide multiple redundancies in the flow of information to and from the data centers, Rackspace partners with nine separate network providers and utilizes only high-performance bandwidth. The network's configuration, co-developed with Cisco, guards against any single point of failure at the network layer. Finally, to ensure the fastest and most reliable network connections possible, the entire network is closely monitored for efficiency and end-user performance, and the network's topology and configuration automatically adjust in response to traffic pattern changes.

ENTERPRISE-LEVEL BACKUP
The advanced architecture powering our hosting solution uses groups of high-performance, network attached storage devices to reliably serve every web page, image and email. Inside each storage device, drives are mirrored to each other in a RAID configuration to create a first level of redundancy. Then, advanced software clusters the storage devices into logical groups where files are instantly and automatically replicated across each device. As a final precautionary measure, all data on the system is automatically backed up continuously. Our data center creates backups of your data on a nightly basis. However, its purpose is for disaster recovery on the server side. If, for any reason, a storage node on our side were to crash, our backups will be there to replace any lost data*.

*With that said, we recommend that you make periodic backups of your site and data to your local computer since we are unable to extract an individual site's data from the nightly backups.
